Cocktail favorite: Gin Tonic strawberry

If you know me a little you would know that drinking alcohol is NOT my thing. So why come up with a Gin Tonic recipe I hear you thinking? Well, the Foodie-ness team believes this is such a winner that it even gets me to enjoy a sip (or two lol!). As Gin Tonic season is in full swing, I just have to share it with all of you!

This will be my first alcohol included recipe and it feels a bit strange for me, but it fits the season so well right now. Enjoying the warming sun at a terrace with a good cocktail in your hand, surrounded with good vibes… If that won’t give you summer feels I don’t know what will! Even though I don’t really drink, if I do choose to have an alcoholic beverage it will definitely be a cocktail 🙂

This classic Gin Tonic cocktail is gaining in popularity again nowadays so of course I had to give it a try with a healthy & low-kcal Foodie-ness twist!

There are so many varieties for gin tonic drinks that it’s easy to make it to your own taste. I decided to go for a strawberry smoothie version with a touch of coconut for extra tropical vibes! Some may say this isn’t a real Gin Tonic, but I like mine to be slightly more sweet than bitter. Not feeling like drinking alcohol? There’s an alcohol free gin on the market as well. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m sure it will be as yummy to replace the regular gin from this recipe with. Either way, just give this easy cocktail smoothie recipe a try! Enjoy this cold beverage out in the sun with good company around you!

With love,
Carolina.

METHOD

  1. We start by making up the cocktail glass. Take a gin tonic glass, or another round cocktail or large wine glass if you don’t have a gin tonic one.
  2. Pour a bit of syrup in a deep plate and spread the grated coconut over another plate.
  3. Dip the top of the glass in the syrup first, followed by dipping it in the coconut. This will give the top of the glass a cool cocktail look!
  4. Take a blending machine and add the gin, frozen strawberries and lime juice. Blend this until you have a smooth mixture and the strawberries are soft. If you don’t have frozen strawberries, you can take fresh ones as well, but I like my drink to be ice cold 🙂
  5. Fill up the gin tonic glass with the ice, pour the mixture and fill it up with the tonic.
  6. Finish the glass with a piece of lime or a strawberry on the side an pick your nicest straw. Now your Gin Tonic smoothie is ready to be served!
